Carrie Forbes

Carrie Forbes joined the Big Brother Big Sister organization as a Big Sister in 2010 where she was matched with a wonderfully charming 7 year old girl.  Since that time, Carrie has gotten to watch her little grow up into a sweet, thoughtful and considerate teenager.

Through this process Carrie has realized that the BBBS organization is more than just serving as a mentor to a child.  To her being a “Big Sister” means that you make a commitment to a child to be a part of their life, to offer support and encouragement when needed, a listening ear, and participating in lots of fun and exciting adventures. This experience has been mutually beneficial for both and they have become more than just Big and Little, they have truly become a part of each others family.

When Carrie saw the opportunity for this paddle come up, she was thrilled.  As an avid adventure seeker, paddling to the Isles of Shoals was something she already had on her bucket list, then with the added benefit of paddling for an organization that is so close to her heart, this event couldn’t have been more perfect.  It is Carrie’s hope, that this event will not just raise money for the Big Brother Big Sister organization, but raise awareness of the opportunities that exist for both Big and Little’s.
